Unfortunately its very true. Personally, in the movies, I say that Hugh Laurie would have been a much better choice over Robert Downey Jr. Look wise, its a better choice, and Laurie already has experience being a smart, overly confident problem solver who notices those small things that make the case.
House is based Sherlock, who is(in part) based on Dr. Joseph Bell, who was the subject of the book House got for Christmas that Wilson made up a story involving House falling for a patient named Irene Adler in the episode "Joy to the World".
uh, yes - that's what i'm saying... i was pointing out that it was interesting that you and your dad felt a link between the two characters, and assumed you didn't know that it was intentionally based on Sherlock Holmes. You and your dads revelation that Laurie would be appropriate seems a bit pointless now that you've pointed out that you already knew he was basically playing a modernised Sherlock.
It is. And the 2009 SH movie is kind of based off House md. If you watch closely, you'll discover some elements David Shore used in his series, like the "Admit it" scene at the funeral. Holmes does it in the alley when he gets that woman to 'read Watson's future'.
That would be awesome~! After all... House is sort of = Sherlock~ but Robert did a good job too... I ironically like the fact that he made Sherlock seem funny rather than serious... '''^^ .. Though Hugh could also be Moriaty... >)
I do agree with you that if RDJ didn't get the role then Hugh Laurie should have, but I would have found it too much like House M.D for Dr House was based off of Sherlock Holmes. I like how you did the picture though.
You know, his new show, "House" is basically a modern day Holmes, He is the most genius medical detective around, is antisocial, can tell things just by observing, and is a drug addict who cant stop taking meds for his painful leg. in that one, his Watson is Wilson, who like Holmes, is his ONLY friend, and the only one who puts up with him.
Plus, the name "House" is a play on "Holmes. (because Hlomes = Homes! get it?)
